The Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET) is a school affiliated with the Aligarh Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is dedicated in the name of Dr. Zakir Husain, President of India (1967–69).
Though the debate on its inclusion in the Indian Institutes of Technology goes on, the government of India has decided that the college along with six other colleges should be given special treatment in the form of grants and other facilities.
The College offers courses at undergraduate as well as postgraduate level. The language of instruction in all these courses is English. There are eight academic departments associated:
The college has a Book Bank, with 1,500,000 books and journals. All the enrolled students get books issued for the academic year. Apart from that all the departments have the facility of online subscription to desired journals.
There is an annual Fest in which there are cultural and entertainment programmes. The college enjoys the reputation of one of the highest number of placements of undergraduate students in India.
Graduates from ZHCET have studied at Stanford University, Carnegie Mellon University, Harvard University, Purdue University, Max Planck Institute (Germany), MIT and Imperial College (London).
